A very interesting movie, like all of Herzog's. I watched it again a few months ago, having remembered the chicken scene but not much else for about thirty years (yikes!).
You don't get movies like that anymore. Also I love THE ENIGMA OF KASPAR HAUSER which stars the same actor as STROSZEK. So many of Herzog's.
The other scene I always remembered was the newborn baby hanging onto the doctors fingers several feet above the floor. Must rent Kaspar Hauser. Not too Christmasy, but I'll have the time. Some people think Herzog exploited Bruno, who's obviously a somewhat unusual person. I'll be watching with different eyes this time around.
