Wizard!

Have fun. Can't wait to read the book--my copy still hasn't showed up, but I am sure it will be here soon.

Is that standard practice to have a cover charge for a book launch? Or is that a little joke?--Karin

Cheers Jenny. Er, I mean "keen".

Karin - I believe this is standard practise for signings in shops. They have to keep staff there late so this covers it. I must admit I don't like it, but it's normal (I think). Some stores probably don't. But at least Ottakars actually DO in-store events, which other chains aren't really interested in. And besides, you only end up paying 1 quid for the event if you buy the book. And for that quid you get nibbles and wine. Bargain!

I asked because I've only recently ever heard of a cover charge for a launch here (Canada), and that was for a CD. You got a live performance and a discount on the CD, though. It must be a trend, and I can't say as I blame whoever hosts the do for wanting to break even. Anyway, if I were there in England, I'd be there at Ottakar's. Don't forget to take extra ink. You don't want to run out.--Karin
